English Follows…
Lo primero que me gustaría contarles, es sobre la manera en que esta actividad llegó a nuestras vidas, y no es que lo que yo les voy a contar sea la historia completa, pero al menos una muy buena parte de ella. Todo comenzó alrededor de octubre, cuando en una discusión generada en un restaurante de Toluca se comenzaron a planear algunas actividades de parte de algunas personas trabajadoras del Municipio de Toluca, en esa discusión uno de nosotros opinó que sería estupendo poder tener una cabalgata de Día de Reyes como las que se tienen en España (los invito a buscar un video y verlo), a lo cual, un par de semanas después nos respondieron que la cabalgata sería un hecho y que nosotros podríamos ser parte de la caravana… si, seríamos los Reyes Magos… ¿sería esto algo mágico?
En verdad que no nos esperábamos la experiencia que nos esperaba, poco más de un mes pasamos preparando nuestra participación, desde la selección de las telas para nuestros trajes, hasta la búsqueda de más apoyo de parte de la misma sociedad… logramos obtener el apoyo de muchas personas que nos ayudaron con los tronos, el camión, nos ayudaron con la caracterización, fueron nuestros acompañantes, etc.
Según mi experiencia, lo realmente mágico de todo fueron las emociones que logramos obtener de nuestra participación, especialmente la esperanza que podíamos ver y sentir en los ojos de aquellos pequeños que, al vernos caracterizados, ponían su fe y corazón sobre nosotros y todo nuestro equipo de trabajo, porque en esa noche seríamos nosotros quienes visitaríamos sus casas cumpliendo sus deseos.
La esperanza representa un estado cognitivo, emocional y motivacional en relación al futuro; al momento en que pensamos en acciones que ocurrirán en el futuro estamos completamente seguros de que éstas ocurrirán, lo que nos vuelve más seguros de las actividades y acciones que emprendemos, ya que esperamos obtener un buen resultado al final (Peterson & Seligman, 2004, pág. 570)
Ellos (los niños) tenían esperanzas de ser escuchados y al final del día recibir una recompensa por haberse portado lo mejor posible… nosotros nos quedamos con la esperanza de una mejor ciudad, una mejor sociedad que promueva mejores acciones, que genere un mejor país.
Y para aquellos niños que nos conocen, y que después nos preguntaros si nosotros éramos los verdaderos reyes magos, la respuesta que les hemos dado y en la que creemos de todo corazón es la siguiente: “Nosotros fuimos elegidos para representar a esos seres mágicos en el desfile de nuestra ciudad, mientras los verdaderos se encontraban preparando un puñado de sorpresas para cada uno de los niños de este mundo.”
The Wise Men Cavalcade
The first thing I would like to tell you is about the way in which this activity came into our lives, what I am going to tell you is the whole story, but at least a very good part of it. It all started around October, when in a discussion generated in a restaurant in Toluca, some activities began to be planned by some working people of the Municipality of Toluca, in that discussion one of us thought that it would be great to have a Parade like the ones in Spain (I invite you to look for a video and watch it), to which, a couple of weeks later we were told that the ride would be a fact and that we could be part of the caravan… yes, the three of us would be the Wise Men… Isn’t it magical?
We really did not expect the experience that awaited us, we spent over a month preparing our participation, from the selection of fabrics for our suits, to the search for more support from our friends, we got the support of many people who helped us with the thrones, the truck, helped us with the characterization, were our companions, etc.
In my experience, the really magical thing about all this was the emotions we got from our participation, especially the hope we could see and feel in the eyes of those little children who, seeing at us, put their faith and heart on us and our entire team of work, because on that night it would be we who would visit their homes fulfilling their wishes.
Hope represents a cognitive, emotional and motivational state in relation to the future; At the moment we think about actions that will happen in the future, we are completely sure that they will happen, which makes us more confident about the activities and actions we undertake, since we are sure to obtain a good result at the end (Peterson & Seligman, 2004, p. 570)
They (the children) had hope of being heard and at the end of the day receiving a reward for having behaved as well as possible… and at the end we obtained hope to have a better city, a better society that promotes better actions, that generates a better country.
And for those children who recognized us, and then ask us if we were the true Wise Men, the answer we have given them and in which we believe with all our heart is the following: “We were chosen to represent those magical beings in the parade of our city, while the true ones were preparing a handful of surprises for each of the children of this world.”
